How long had he been lying there before he finally told her? Like Chelsea, I don’t hink it was real for Rick himself until he told Joanie…how does one accept that a way of life 33 years in the making is suddenly gone?
txmystic… just like the rest of us. You take a long weekend for drinking and self-pity, then you find a temp job or contract employment to pay the bills while you go back to school again and retrain (again). Ad infinitum. Until you croak or someone puts you into the rest home. Forget about retirement if your income has stayed under 6 figures.
Well, so many people have switched to The Financial Times since Murkydick bought the wall street journal, that Rick can find plenty of places which have increased readership and want his constructive and real reporting. (Forgive my spelling, yes?)
Rick’s options are so open and varied and beautiful.

Thank goodness he’s got Joanie. I’m feeling his pain.

It didn’t really hit me until I heard him tell Joanie.

It’s time to do like everyone else, old boy….write a book!

He’s been with that paper for over 30 years - shouldn’t he be eligible for retirement?

Over 30 years you say goldjester? That means he’s been working for that paper since the Nixon Administration! (pardon the spelling)
