Zonker: Then it's settled-- you'll accompany me to the royal wedding! Sam: But how will you explain me? I'm just a kid! Zonker: Hmm... good question. We can't say I'm your former nanny. That would sound too creepy, even to the British. I've got it! You can be my ward! Sam: Cool! What's a ward? Zonker: I'm not sure, but it's what Robin is to Batman. Sam: Neato! Wait, aren't they gay?

The curse of phony baloney Dr. Wertham still lives! His lousy book “Seduction Of The innocent”, as poorly researched and thrown together as it was, still had the power to unfairly label Batman and Robin and other pulp and comic book heroes. He called Superman a “deviant”.

Basically if someone is a ward that means the other person is obligated to care for them, it’s really just another word for “Legal Guardian,.”

…not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Generational dysfunction. The interpretation of Batman and Robin being gay is so totally a modern spin, like all Batman’s psychological hangups. The original story was about an orphan who was made so by seeing crooks off his parents who takes in a ward in its original meaning, to look after the kid and help him. And Batman was a crime-fighter not a mentally impaired worrier. If only the current batch of “graphic novel” writers (and that self-serving expression is just crap, too) led left the original alone and created a new, warped superhero with hangups, no problem. I can’t wait for their updated, revised edition of “Gone with the Wind.”

Hmmm. You ever watched a rugby match? At least we don’t feel the need to pull on body armour before playing full-contact sports…
