Transcript:
Captain: Everybody loaded? Phred: Yup. This is the last crate. Captain: Good morning, this is your captain, Livingston Plimpton, speaking. I'd like to welcome you aboard Flight 505 to Washington, D.C., with fuel stops in Honolulu and L.A.! Should you require any service-- liquid refreshment, larger air holes-- just rap on your box, and flight attendant Phred will help you out. Otherwise, have a nice flight! Seat belts, everybody!

Wow, liquid refreshments! That’s better than the last flight I was on.

Why is this stuff rerunning? Just curious, have all of these in paperback. I inherited them from my dad…just wondering if I missed a death or something?

@Curious and curiouser
Trudeau is currently working on his Amazon show, “Alpha House.” He still produces new strips for Sundays. -“Welcome to ‘Classic Doonesbury.’ In selecting the strips for this retrospective journey, we’re going deep, literally back to Day One. Revisiting four weeks of strips from every year of syndication, I hope to hit many ‘Doonesbury’ high points, focusing on how the characters (over 75 of them) got involved with one another. Since their lives have always been bound up in the events of the day, it should be a kind of déjà vu for my peers, and maybe a ‘What were you people thinking?’ for newer readers. I hope all of you will enjoy the trip.”- Garry Trudeau-

That’s a bit harsh.
Jack Straw over 10 years ago
He’s earned it, though.

I wouldn’t trust a pilot who wears a parachute while he flies.

To all the cats that were in denial over the Benghazi cover up by the WH, Hillary and their Sunday morning mouth piece, Susan Rice, you may want to tune into your favorite liberal news provider. I supposed timed to be after the election and well before 2016 hoping all would be forgotten, except by the family and friends of four slain Americans.
dwdl21 over 10 years ago
Yeah I don’t remember this either but it’s fun to read…lol
montessoriteacher over 10 years ago
Wonder how many will conveniently forget about all the slain americans after we got into a war that we didn’t have to get into called the Iraq war?
montessoriteacher over 10 years ago
You would think people could read the right site of the page where there is a nice explanation by GT about why these oldies are showing up.
montessoriteacher over 10 years ago
Prez Bush had intel that the rest of us, including Congress, did not have. The Iraq war was a far greater debacle than Benghazi. The Iraq war was a deliberate event. Benghazi was not. It was an unfortunate event which took place in a dangerous part of the world. Unfortunately, there are lots of dangerous places in the world. No one can prevent every last problem in the world. However, one can use as much restraint as possible when it comes to going to war.

OK, I bit, and went to my “favorite left-wing website” looking for disastrous news about Benghazi (even though it’s not yet after the 2014 election). I didn’t find a word. I did find this:.“Just 21% view Jeb Bush as favorable compared to 32% who view him as unfavorable, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.” and.“Support for President Barack Obama and his health care law has marginally improved.”

NO, he’s not a Republican.
But, hey, ain’t that the mark of free market success? If the customers will still buy it, give ‘em what they’ll buy.
And freedom of the press works both ways: he ( or the website, whatever) can publish whatever they want. Nobody forces you to come here and read it., let alone comment. SO, you could, say, go read Mallard Fillmore.

Grace L. Ferguson is an old Bob and Ray invention and Ryanair is an invention of the devil (Ha)They both made me laugh
BE THIS GUY over 10 years ago
@bawanaYou are probably right; he has managed to achieve great success doing what he has done for 40+ years and wants to try something new. What’s wrong with that?
kaffekup over 10 years ago
Oh, OK, I thought RyanAir was an airline started by Paul Ryan, where, for top dollar, you get to sit on packing crates and pay al a carte for everything.
caligula over 10 years ago
Can you blame him? At this point I’d have found an apprentice cartoonist and trained him to take over, even if he needed a writer as well. The franchise is worth more than the time needed for Trudeau himself to do a strip.
And next, Doonesbury, the television show, can you blame him for being interested in such a proposal? This might open the doors.

Ah, to the memory of Mr. Rand Holmes, one hell of an artist.

Yep, I agree.

@ragarmsOpel — haven’t seen one of those in a long time.
Newshound41 over 10 years ago
@KaffekupI went to the “fair and balanced” network. They promoted the White House Benghazi email as a big story last night but have completely buried it today. They must have realized that there was “no there there.”They need something badly after going all-in with Cliven Bundy story, only to have it blow up in their face.

@Travis BickelDon’t be knocking vanilla, it is an amazing flavor. Just think how much a recipe improves by adding a few drops.
drmac48180 over 10 years ago
That still seems better than flying Spirit Airlines.
Newshound41 over 10 years ago
@ragarmsThey can still make fun of the incompetence of CNN, but Fox insanity is easier to make fun of.

Love the sound of the seatbelts. Wonder what the refreshments will be…. Tang? It travels well…. ;)
