Don’t dwell on the past; it will only make you unhappy.

“Mr. and Mrs. Kitten, I’ve called you here because May’s been inventing things…”

“Oh yes, isn’t it wonderful? She’s got 12 patents so far!”

    “I feel she… uh, what?”

Good OR bad memories…dwelling in the past does NOTHING for the present.

Those who forget the past are likely to repeat it.

True. There was a much later series of strips where Mike ran into his commune crush Nicole at a reunion and was surprised and stammering over the fact that she had gained a lot of weight. Awkward.

Actually they don’t issue patents FOR children. Who would want to make copies, anyhow?

Anything we (or our children) might have used?My mother had a patent in her name, but I think it was actually for something one of her uncles may have invented (a cigarette pack incorporating a matchbook, 1941).

My only real regret from the past, and it’s a biggie, was not figuring out some way to come up with $1000 when Bill Gates was literally going door-to-door (business, not residential) seeking investors in this new operating system he had invented. I was barely out of high school and no way had that kind of money and could not convince my family that this was worthwhile. My family was never very shrewd when it came to finances.

@Ilegal SeagullIf you are referring to Phil Slackmeyer’s college years, look at his button; it says ’43. He, along with most of the male graduates of his class, went straight from the commencement ceremony into the service.
