Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for April 20, 2016

Joanie: How far do you want to go with this? Zonker: As far as we have to. I'm a rich man. Joanie: Mr. Dupuis? Since the purchase of human beings is forbidden outside of pro sports, my client has advised me to offer you a "finder's fee" for Mr. Duke's return. What do we have in mind? Well, that's difficult to say, Mr. Dupuis. How can we measure the value of a person? Is it possible to set a price on a human life? $10 million. Take it or leave it. Zonker: Pass, we're not taking Mother Theresa here.

I wonder how much I’m worth in ransom. Besides to my mom, anyway.

Duke’s worth is more along the lines of O Henry’s, “the Ransom of Red Chief.”

Did they show Zonk buying his title? I liked just how easy he threw the money away.

Nice to see Zonker driving a hard bargain. Remember, Duke himself was still haggling over the price of his own ransom when he was blindfolded in front of an Iranian firing squad.

Daydreaming: If only they had quit right here we wouldn’t have to ever endured Duke’s presence again.
