I think people who say they dislike politics are regularly offended by this strip but politics is one of those things that we all have no choice but to accept as part of our lives. Especially now.
Nobody in politics today gets their feelings hurt more than trump! Unfortunately, he has regular temper tantrums due to his hurt feelings on twitter on a regular basis. I have debated in my own mind whether or not twitter should even continue to put up with him. Twitter is a private company, they don’t have to accept him. Twitter, like other private companies, is allowed to have standards. If we are going to say that we are offended by a comedian or two, and have a career or two ended because of a distasteful act by that person, what does that say about our standards for the president of the united states? Trumpsters were recently so offended by a Broadway play about Caesar, in which Caesar was depicted as Trump, that they interrupted the play and tried to shut it down. Nobody tried to shut it down when Caesar was portrayed as a charimatic, attractive, thin, black man, however. It seems that Obama supporters understood the broader message of the play. It seems that all the rules have to be re-written for our very sensitive *pres. trump.
*charismatic. It seems I got in a hurry, visiting with family today and one of them is a two year old, so it is hard to split your attention when it comes to those little people.
“Your right to be a snowflake ends when the snow falls on my head!” (I almost kind of—in some ways— know what this means, and I’m the one who thought up the dang thing!)
Another scary trump thing we just heard about was in regard to him using Jared Kushner, his son-in-law, to attempt to blackmail the MSNBC hosts Joe and Mika. Kushner told them they would tell the National Enquirer to run a negative story about them unless they would publicly apologize to trump! It seems that everyday we hear about another crazy situation like this. Meanwhile, the GOP nominated this guy and he is the same flake that he was during the campaign. At some point, the GOP needs to take some responsibility and put country over party.
Many are attempting to replay the events of the end of the Nixon era in order to get some guidance as to how long the trump tragedy will go on. Of course, there were key differences between the two presidencies. Nixon was evil, however he did have a few areas of compentence.
A fun strip poking fun at his readers, particularly those who are so offended by micro-offenses. BTW, do you think that BD, Duke or Zonker paid any attention to any sensitivity training they were put through?
Trump just posted a WWE clip of himself body slamming CNN. Will he pay for the price for inciting violence? (once again). I don’t see trump as mentally competent to serve as potus and he continually proves this to be the case.
I think the answer to Doonesbury offending someone would be that if you are a trump era Republican, I would think it might very well offend you, as you are the type who is easily offended and you think that none of the rules apply to you.
It has also occurred to many that we must keep in mind that trump is great at distractions. This is also a problem, as many millions are about to lose healthcare. With trump, we must remember: Don’t accept the things you can not change. Change the things you can not accept.
Just in time for July 4, Neil Young released a resistance anthem. Check it out on Huffpost. Should goodness ever lose and evil steal the day, what would you do?
Agreed about distractions, however I still find it disturbing that so many Americans feel that evil took over their politics now. The last half century was a foot massage, apparently. Back to the comic, I dislike the lack of humour, inspiration and realistic noses in the last years’ episodes, but this one was needed. Still, why was there a snowflakey episode about safe spaces a few months ago? And I’ll never stop finding the support of veterans disturbing for a supposedly say-it-as-it-is political comic — it’s the reason I haven’t spent any actual money on D so far.
TIGRE1AGAIN “We’re stuck with an historical mistake, a tremendous one, of the sainted A. Lincoln: he didn’t order Grant to HANG all the surrendering, whipped Johnny Rebs at Appomattox.Would have solved ALL our racial and sectional disunities for hundreds of years. It is unfortunate, and has dragged down our country for nearly a hundred and fifty years.”
Murder all prisoners of war? Ignoring the immorality and monstrousness of the vile thinking, this gives no reason to surrender and would have led to many more deaths. If I am going to die anyway, I may as well have company.
Further, there was plenty of “racial and sectional disunity” throughout the nation. Many opposed slavery but still wanted nothing to do with people of other races or nationalities or religions.

I think the whole idea of “microagression” is probably funnier than almost any comic. We used to call it “discourse”.

Was it a microaggression involving the term “snowflake”?

As a long standing devout snowflake, I am offended. (see you tomorrow)

Microaggressions. Actually looking for excuses to be offended is now considered a GOOD thing.

Precisely! Being a victim now confers status. In some circles, anyway. So if you’re not, you might just have to find a way to become one.
Being a victim used to be something people tried to avoid.
