Artistically speaking, Trudeau did a great job on this one. However, I have to say it doesn’t really look much like Tiananmen Square, which I visited five years after this. For one thing, there’s no structure like the one in the middle. I suppose the closest thing would be the gate to the Forbidden City, but that doesn’t look anything like what Trudeau has here. Also, only a few of Trudeau’s Chinese characters look like real Chinese characters. But admittedly these flaws wouldn’t be obvious to most readers, and perhaps it would be asking too much of Trudeau to get all the details right.
