this whole thing pretty much broke down when daughters were taken to work and when mommy or daddy work in an office and sit at desks, it’s kind of boring. places started having child care rooms for the day and it defeated the whole point

Take her to the White House. Then take her to your office.

Sorry Mike – I’ve never heard of that being the reason for “Take Your Daughter to Work Day”…the strip makes an important point, but with an imaginary set-up.

Depends, Mike. Do you want her to be impressed or disgusted?

If I remember correctly Take Your Daughter to Work Day was created to inspire girls to be more career minded. It was a PC 90’s thing to get women out of the home.

This arc was actually led into with a Sunday strip, and one that feels timely even 26 years later… https://www.gocomics.com/doonesbury/1993/04/25?ct=v&cti=1542107
