Now apply this principal outside academia to local and national politics. Jackson, Sharpton, Duke, Friedan and all the rest who elevate our differences. The solutions take a back seat to maintaining power and status and notoriety.
It’s one of the inviolate laws that govern the Growth of a Bureaucracy.
A person who wishes to Advance has two choices:
A) Wait for someone Above you to Die so you can be promoted to his job.
B) Grow your Own Job until it becomes so large you need to hire additional people to handle the workload and can be “Manager” of your former “Job” turned Department.
