I do not, of course, miss cigarette advertising. But that industry does make me laugh at times. For example, Marlboro started out being marketed to women
well the calendar on the panel is wrong, the concept has become a joke and this year in particular it really didn’t pan out but other than that way to go Gary.
I don’t understand the ban on cigarette advertising. Seems to me I read somewhere that Congress shall make no law abridging freedom of speech or of the press. Am I imagining things or has someone else read that. If it helps you to remember, there I believe there was also something there about Congress not being able to restrict people who wanted to peaceably assemble. I know I’m old and sometimes can’t remember what I had for breakfast but I could swear that I read that about Congress when I was in school. Am I imagining things?
Quarantine is definitely giving many boys and girls a chance to see what work is. Cleaning, laundry, cooking, baby/pet care, and then career on top of it. Boys can expand their horizons and match socks, clean after cooking, plan a menu. Girls can paint a wall and learn plumbing. Show them banking and finance, explain stock market and insurance. Teach life skills – not information that if you ever need it you will google it. ( I know some are well rounded – but not most)

“When I’m watchin’ my TV, and a man comes on and tell me how white my shirts can be.
But, he can’t be a man ‘cause he doesn’t smoke the same cigarettes as me.
I can’t get no (take your daughter to work day) satisfaction,…"

I wish we’d had the Burma Shave adverts I’ve read about over here. They sounded like great fun.

The third panel reminded me of the Sunday strip from a couple weeks ago. I’m amazed how Boopsie has kept her optimism over all these years.

Seems to me that sullen fifth graders at that time would be more into Blink-182 or (ick) Green Day…

Panel 1: How many times have I heard kids ask me, “Can I hold your gun?”
Panel 2: If music be the food of learning, play on.
Panel 3: Why mess with older when so many younger are willing to trample you?
Panel 4: Dosage trumps image. This is a gateway drug.
