While there is some validity to the argument that violence in cartoons (like Tom and Jerry or the Coyote and Roadrunner) has desensitized us Boomers to violence, it is way overblown by many.
It’s a cartoon for crying out loud! If a Child can’t tell the difference between that and real life they have much bigger issues.
Way, way back, when Mark had a summer job working construction, he was getting beaten up by his hard-hat co-workers. But I don’t think it was shown on the page.
Wonder if it’s related to the safe that showed up in some farmer’s field in New York? https://www.wane.com/news/mysterious-giant-safe-appears-in-farmers-field-in-upstate-ny/

The only time I can remember was when GT was parodying the Bernie Goetz business on the NYC subway, with poor Mike diving for cover.

If he wants to see violence in the comics, he can read Tarzan or Dick Tracy.

Ah, the good old days. A time when the country’s greatest problem was violence.

The subtext to a letter like that with a signature like ‘Mike from Chicago’ is, “Why all this boring talk? I’d like to see some action.”
