I knew a vet from that era who served as a “Tunnel Rat.” For those of you too young to know what that is, these soldier’s were usually short, wiry, and easily fit themselves into those VC holes when they had to go in and flush em out. I visited the tunnels in Cu Chi before they were widened and concreted for the tourists. Even without punji traps it was a harrowing experience.
