The Sit & Spin was a combination laundromat, music club, and cafe. It was considered very cool in Seattle in the Nineties, and a Yuppie like Mike wouldn’t go within five miles of it.
I remember being forced to go to Sunday School and church by my mother. I hate it and maybe because of that, I lost the faith. My father was brought up Baptist until, as he said, “There was an old woman who taught Sunday School who lost a stub of a pencil. She blamed one of the kids for stealing it and searched every one of them.” That was the last time he went to church. My hero.
A friend of mine made a comment, strangely enough also in a Baptist Church, that one need not go to church to be religious. The elders called his parents and demanded that he get “counseling”. It finally got so bad that the family had to get a court order to keep all those allegedly holy people away. They called night and day, came to the door adn started preaching.
Religion is organized. Faith is what a person believes. Religion “requires” a tithe. The government requires a tax. So, what’s the big difference?

Obviously, it’s not a Catholic church, unless they bribed them by Justice Uncle Thomas.

Spiritual awareness is critical for a good life. Organized religion isn’t.
