Amazing how the younger generations manage to be just as self-centered and banal, if not more, than the preceding generations.

I hope my kinds sorta friend Paula Marshall (Nucci) reads this strip. She played the reporter that prompted the famous line that Mike quoted. Episode aired 2/11/1993, 30 years minus one month ago. Paula was beautiful then. Still is.

I was hoping one of them would be wearing a puffy shirt.

Not to worry, “Friends” picked up the slack in self-involved, two-dimensional characters. (note : I watched “Friends” religiously in first run, had the water-cooler discussions, got the t-shirt. Now I can only watch the first three or four episodes of the first season without cringing.)

Oh Mike, you poor delusional optimistic sap. If only you knew.

In the last panel, Mike’s quoting Jerry and Mark’s quoting Elaine… is Zonker quoting someone, too? If so it’s not obvious to me who it is… Kramer or George. Or maybe it’s just… nothing!

I gather that this dialog must have been meaningful to people who actually watched the show, yes?

Lenny Bruce used “yadda, yadda” long before Seinfeld hit the airwaves.
