I’ve got the answer — mom was a huge fan of June Cleaver, known for always being sartorially perfect, so had her pearls sutured to her body.

Mom, like every other character in this strip, often dreams about the Mojave desert town of Zzyzx, California.

Saw a show about loud snorers years ago. They took 4 guys and their wives to see if they could help the men snore less, plus see who was the loudest. One wife was sure her husband was the worst, went on and on about it. After 4 days they were taping snores and one snorer dwarfed all others; they snuck to the room to see the husband smiling and his complaining wife snoring so loud everyone else in the building was awake. She ‘won’.

I figured that her apron was up around her neck choking her, but I was wrong!

Annoying as hell, even in her sleep.
