June: I've set out all the backpacks! I've made all the lunches! I've laid out all the clothes! I'm so excited!!
Norman: The night before we go back to school is mom's equivalent of Christmas eve!
The only I looked forward to school was the opportunity of not seeing family members; that changed when I found out high school was 4 years long and my siblings were born two years apart.
Is it just me or is it kind of strange that the grocery stores are selling Halloween candy now – in mid-August, and that Costco is already starting to sell Christmas stuff.
Seems to me that they’re forgetting about a few other holidays that are supposed to come first.
shamino: Well, they are not going to promote anything that used to glorify labor. A couple of major Jewish holidays would antagonize the “America is a Christian country” mob. They don’t even recognize the equinox and solstice, much less the quarter day in between. Halloween, is already being cleared from the shelves. Columbus/Invasion Day is too controversial in itself. Thanksgiving is only a “big deal” for grocers. So what’s left for them to ignore?

So why hasn’t she hung out the Christmas decorations? Oh, wait – I doubt she ever takes them down.
