Well talk about timing, just today CDC says COVID-19 does NOT spread easily on surfaces.https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/how-covid-spreads.html
I pick up the mail, stop by the recycle bin sort, then wash my hands. I open the mail box on the sides, I leave the pull tab for the mail person. I’ve cleaned that too.
VERY, VERY, VERY BAD advise intimated in this cartoon. You can set your house on fire doing this. The idea is that you will kill the COVID 19 virus using this procedure. If you must, use the oven set at 160 degrees and allow the recommended time.
There is no substantiated evidence that you can catch COVID 19 from your mail. But if you must do something to feel safe, just quarantine the mail for a couple days in a remote part of your home, say the garage.
Funny cartoon but not good information. Microwave ovens will probably not effect a virus at all. A microwave oven works on the water in items and there is also a minimum size that will effect the item. covid-19 is too small and does not contain enough water. The only way for this to work would be to soak or spray the mail with water then cook it until the mail was hot enough to kill the virus.

I made a little tanning bed for our mail and packages. An aquarium sterilizing UV lamp and a plastic tote.

….. and I am so old I remember when I received actual “snail” mail, now it’s only advertisements, etc., plus small deliveries from Amazon of course.

Next thing you know dear leader will be turning to one of the doctors and asking them to look into giant microwaves as a way to cure people…

In Phoenix, just leave it in the mailbox a while before you bring it in. Same result.

I don’t get it. Nuking the mail is silly. Just wash your hands when you’re done with the mail, duh.
