I read in a dog training book that when you holler at your dogs when they’re barking they think you’re barking too! So I make a point to lower my voice (less than normal speaking levels) when trying to get my dachshund to quit barking and he definitely pays more attention to me and listens better when I do
Wally is hilarious when he’s barking. I’d read Drabble just to see him go into his routine. And then with Ralph in that last panel … I’m still laughing.
This reminds me of some books my kids read when they were young. “Choose your own adventure” books, where at certain points you can decide what a character will do, and go to the page where that is how the story continues.
