Glen worked on the film as “an additional storyboard artist”, and is listed in the credits.
Illumination Entertainment is the production company working within Universal to bring out Despicable Me 2. They seem to be quite enthusiastic about the crossover with The Duplex:
My impression is that this is less about product placement than it is “professional fan art.” That is, a professional creative who uses other work as the foundation for their own. The creators approach the work out of a genuine affection for the other work, not out of any lack of creativity on their part.
e.g. John Scalzi recently did this with his with his Hugo award winning novel, “Redshirts.”
Glenn seems to have an affection for the characters and no doubt had the relationships to enable him to use the characters in this way.
So, my trollish companions, enjoy or take a short vacation on a long web page.

How long is the sell-out gonna last? I read this strip for the existing characters. If I wanted to watch Despicable Me, I’d go rent it…

Despicable Me and Me 2 are Universal, not Disney/Pixar

The Minions make great comic strip characters. @hutzut… thanks for the correction, you beat me to it!

Someone said Glenn worked on the movie. If he is credited with that, I don’t see a problem.
