My mom was incredulous when she got 2 degree burns on her honeymoon in Maryland (she was very fair skinned being from Germany) and couldn’t believe the amount of money the hospital charged there. She said aren’t you covered here for medical and dental; my dad said no and she shook her head in amazement as all of the medical was covered in Germany.
