At least it’s not geriatric flashing

We’re coming up on 70 years of Rock and Roll being a “thing.” It may o longer be the Big Dog, but it ain’t dead yet.

I noticed yesterday that Pulp’s “Common People” (released in 1995) is now as old as Sly & the Family Stone’s “Everyday People” (released in 1969) was in 1995, and both songs are still listenable. Go back 53 years from 1969, and you’ve got, what, “Bicycle Built for Two”?

A geriatric guy can still lift a woman over his head.

I have plenty of 50’s and 60’s rock in my playlists, but most of it is stuff going back further – 1900 era ragtime, -1920-1930 barrelhouse blues and boogie woogie, early swing era big band. I just bought 2 CDs from Ethan Leinwand.

Looks like the meds kicked in.

I particularly love the “Monster Mash”.

Gee, they show more flash than Eno’s whole body!!!

Lots of FM stations playing what they call ‘classic rock’ but it’s mostly pop with an very occassional Who and AC-DC song thrown in. Have to listen to one’s own collection or find an internet station if one wants to hear the real classic rock from the ’60s and early ’70s.

Where is this place? I’m down with it, or…..up for it….you get my drift?

Nearly the same thing: Roy Orbison’s Pretty Woman played in the grocery and every female, young and old, broke out in dance. Boogey in one form or the other.

At least they aren’t robbing the joint.

So what’s wrong with the geriatric’s flash mob. It would probably living things up? Go old people!

I get sadder and sadder as the music I like gets older and older. I remember thinking L.A. Guns was going to be my favorite new band and then they disappeared. Guns and Roses popped up.

I think seniors being active is a good thing myself.

They’re hip now. Soon there will be some broken or dislocated ones. :)

I still listen to music from the late 1900s. (That just looks so weird)

If that’s the worst that happens then no trouble.

A couple more generations from now, should civilization survive, that could possibly happen…..

Bring on the “tiny dancer.”

It’s WHY I listen to my own collection of R&R, Blues from the early ’50’s. While it’s possible there ARE stations out there that play oldies such as Dance With Me Henry (Etta James) Rocket 88 by the Ike Turner Band, Look In My Eyes by The Chantels, etc. etc. but I’ve no idea where/how to find them. Therefore, my collections are ALWAYS there when I need ’em !
