It’s too bad that these get updated with more topical references. I enjoyed the strip when it was current and appreciate the memories.

Those who appreciate this strip don’t even know who Justin Beaver is. So, why changing the original?

Yes, that feels a little strange. It says “1970” on the side of the strip and it’s clearly from the past. Why not just say David Cassidy or Bobby Sherman or whoever it was in the original? The younger people who didn’t know who that was could just Google it if they were curious.

I concur with the other commentators.

I disagree. The younger people don’t even read these comics.

The original was Paul Newman, and this is a rerun.

Here we go with the Justin Bieber thing agai!. Didn’t we have this argument last week? IN 1970 she really said Jim Morrison!

Why are they running it again, they just ran it last week, with complaints. If they were going to rerun it, I would at least think that they would have put the original script back. What? You decided to piss people off twice with the same comic?

I kind of like the contrast. The heart throb of the moment may change, the technology may change, but the experience of being a teenage girl doesn’t. I like the idea of the original next to the updated caption.
