Aaron – I can see why gray tones could be a problem with this strip. How’s the current workload going?

Unfortunately, Cooper, reality has a way of changing us all. I learned that lesson all too well. . .

Wally looks at his lady, concerned For the cynical truths he has learned Haven’t fazed her at all And this quite-petite doll Still insists that her trust Endtown’s earned But our Cooper seems wiser, if grim Not the first time it’s happened to him That piscine gentle being Perhaps is far-seeing Holly’s wise, though; the chances are slim That she’ll stay unperceptive and blind Of resentments to “those of wrong kind” Cooper sees trouble pending Perhaps a bad ending But Holly is still on his mind He is noble of heart, is this fish And expresses his innocent wish That dear Holly is spared What has Cooper quite scared And that none of it lands in her dish But we think that the tale will unfold With warm Holly exposed to the cold And with new circumstances I’d say that the chance is That some hopeful guesses won’t hold =|====/ Level Head

Did all of the animals die, or could some of them have mutated to have sentience & speech? Jack & the rats could be disgruntled lab animals.

Holly is definitely the eternal optimist; but both Cooper and Wally know what is really happening. Wally has a heavy burden to bear, remembering what the world was like before the great war and seeing it happening all over again. Wally knows that Cooper is right and yet he doesn’t want to see Holly lose hope.Aaron, I have to wonder if you’re not describing what is currently going on in America today. It seems this country is becoming more divided and less united. If we are really to resolve the problems facing our nation; we must come together with a single resolve, faith, and hope. Perhaps Jacob Jackrabbit is more of a Tea Partier is bunny fuzz.

I think the grey tones add to the usual overall mood of the strip. I like them, myself.

The grey tones are necessary, yes. It’s a bit sad to say it gives it an old-time feel, when I’m thinking of 80s stuff, sigh. I was thinking of starting limericks, but our resident Bard has that covered already. Is there anything he cannot do! :)

And so far, I know where this will end up, but the journey itself is unknown and has plenty of tension in it.

I think I have been a cynic most of my life. But it is not angry cynicism, It just induces laughter.

Actually, it’s government of the billionaires, by the billionaires, for the billionaires.

I love that Holly remains optimistic, despite everything she has experienced and seen! Without optimism, there is no hope – and no hope for Wally as well. He is so key to the story, he HAS to remain hopeful in something… or someone!

Love the way Wally and Holly are holding hands in panel 3! Wally’s “squeeze” is very reassuring – it’ll be ok…

Aaron, I like the grey – it lends to the mood. Awesome job!

On art; the format is graphic novel meets film noir. Grey works.

On Lincoln’s grammar & syntax; government of [those governed, still the people], by [those governing, usually the burrocracy], for [who benefits, I used to complain that it was the status quo, but that status quo was better than the current aim; for only the top very few %]. When the burrocrats can’t see any benefit for themselves, they tend to quit shouldering the burden & the system tends to break down. They may be annoying, but they can be useful in the long run. It makes a big difference who’s using them for what.

People like Holly will make sure things don’t get as bad as Cooper expects. They may not be able to stop the firestorm, but they can try to slow it down and divert it, and help people recover afterward.

The disillusioned vs. the ever optimistic. I see that very often. As for this ongoing debate between cynicism and optimism, it’s very hard to tell. Some will never give up hope in society, while there are those that lose something, and never get it back, forever tarnishing their view of how life is in general. I think that it can happen at any age, so the young can be cynical, and become optimistic as they somehow regain trust in society, while the optimistic young can come to hate how the world is. There is never one path for life to follow

I didn’t expect Cooper to have a tail. How is it that we know his name? I didn’t see a tag on his shirt or anything.
