The problem with having such a good reputation is that if you manage to pull off something incredible, there will be those who think you can do it in a regular basis.
Flask must be an expert butter churner in order to be able to butter up Wally that much. I wouldn’t say she’s loading it on thick; but you could turn the Earth back into the Garden of Eden with that much fertilizer.
“When you return…..”DANGER! DANGER! I do have a fair amount of confidencein Wally’s return, but it’s always dangerous to be blase’about topsiders. What’s that line from “The Hobbit”? “Never laugh at live dragons”……
MY suspicion is that Ally wrote a false mission report, making Wally out to be an invincible hero, and basically getting herself rid of the job. Firstly, she never has to do any foraging work again, and secondly, she may just get Wally killed, thus wreaking her revenge on him.
Flask is hardly buttering him up. She’s sarcastically tearing him down. Everything she’s saying to him is mocking him, including his dislike of using guns. I get the impression she’s angry at him for killing the Topsiders. They may have been friends or family. She may be a mutant and can’t go back to them, but they’re still her people. (Theoretically.)
Wow Sh e has a way of making a compliment sound like an insult and then to deny him the perks because this is hardly a hard mission for him is just crap. I see even in end town the so called Elite keep the best for themselves.
As much as I am loving Level-Head’s poetic genius (and I am, too!), I can’t help but side with Jenner’s theory about Ally making a somewhat exaggerated report about Wally’s skills..Think about this… Now that he’s starting to come to terms with spending the rest of his life as a cat, he was able to catch Holly, Endtown’s fastest mouse. And he gave a bull two black eyes. He has the skills… He just needs to motivate himself to unleash them..So… Can you imagine if something triggers him to do a feat so incredible, that it will put Ally’s report to shame?
Boooo!! HISSSS!!!Just introduce a villian, and we all take the bait!I love the comments from this gallery! Can you say “Rocky Horror Picture Show”?But kidding aside, I love that Aaron’s characters aren’t one-dimensional; Blackie isn’t just pure evil. You know there’s more going on with her than just what’s on the surface, and that’s what makes her, and all the characters, so interesting.\
Wally, quit and go back to Holly. This may be your LAST opportunity!Keep up the suspense, Aaron.Do they have some “goodies” in Security’s pantry? Let us get a look?
This is probably just mirroring what has already been said…but…This does not feel like buttering at all. It may seem like she’s just laying on compliment one after the other, but it has a derogatory ring to it that almost certainly means that she isn’t trying to make him feel good about himself. I agree with what Night-Gaunt49 had to say. Flask/Blackie is making a series of what seems to be offhand remarks, and then carefully watching how he reacts to either see if he really is that useful, and maybe what she is going to have to deal with if he is on the team. Commanders like to know their people, and I don’t think Flask is an exception.

“Your weekly pick of security’s well-stocked pantry.” OF BEANS?!? REALLY??? There is not enough danger around to come home to that!

bet Blackie was Flask’s husband or child or something like that.
And Wally wanted to get out of Endtown, might be a good time to do so.

Is she looking for a contest or to get a job done? I worked for a woman like that once.
