Okay, gang.. The Baltimore con has come and gone and I’ll be back in Texas by tomorrow evening.. Had some sobering conversations with some industry folk and am now trying to work up a plan of action.. More later.. Good news is that I have a lot of new original color drawings for the auctions.. The bad news is that I’ll have to delay this week’s auction until tomorrow night.. Take care, all..
I really mean it. I was all prepared to write off Flask as the most evil of villains, and in truth her last living act was to level a gun at Wally and relish the act of pulling the trigger. But…now all I want to do is hug her, soak up her tears on my shoulder and tell her everything will be alright. And yet I can’t, and nor will it be. She is the Topsider who knew and despised her people so much – with totally valid reason – that she preferred death or worse, rather than continue to be complicit in their cruelty, their collective, criminal insanity. So she took the plunge, and even that went wrong. She ended up alive in a living death, carrying a perpetually open wound in her psyche, as she lived in the community of mutants without the man she paid the final price to be with.I’ve never known a story that’s done this to me so strongly. It fires me up with storm-powereful emotions and then flips them right over. Once again, I’ve been neatherized.Curse you, Aaron Neathery!
I’m going to guess he was leading other TSers away from her to protect her. I’m surprised her training wouldn’t have had her look first and yell later.
The first time, ever I saw my faceI thought the virus did alrightThe fur and the fangs were the gifts it gaveAlone in the dark and endless night – no loveIn the darkened Endtown night…
Hey, gang, hate to keep playing the same record over and over (like when I was a country radio DJ…you can only hear that Reba McEntire song so many times, you know?), but we need to start picking up on the TopWebComics voting.
Endtown 2.0 is slowly finding its way down the chart while Endtown 1.0 is just flat-out plummeting. I’ve made it almost a reflex action to vote whenever I see the links on surfstuff55’s or Level_Head’s posts. Only takes a moment each morning but it means a lot.
This is the first strip in years that’s really grabbed me (it reminds me a lot of the old Buz Sawyer strip of the 1930’s and 40’s, but with an ensemble cast) and it’s worth helping keep it alive. I can’t imagine there’s anything like Endtown elsewhere.
It occured to me this weekend we may never see his actual. She may have never looked up it with her Mark 1’s. She always had those electronic lenses and they gave an image generated to look a certain way. I agree with Sherman yelling when behind enemy lines is not a good response but given her longings it would be a normal response. I can sympathize with her back in the early panels. Her desire for revenge would be a terrible burden to carry. She apparently relishes combat and seem willing to die. She wants others to feel her pain. What must have happened to her was a terrible shock. On a side note welcome back to Texas Mr. Neatherly from a fellow Texan.
This has got to be the greatest comic of all time. Told ya she was good!….in a I’m hurt so I am gonna hurt others kind of way. Been down in my back. Going back to reading but will comment when I can. You all make the time in bed a lot easier. Thanks all!
@ surfstuff55Generally I’d agree with you, Aaron’s details usually come for a reason. Mind you I’m still trying to figure the stylistic differences for when the crew (+ Aaron and Linda – Flask) returned to Endtown. The buildings and streetlamps had a different style, leading me to assume that this was another community or possibly Endtown at a different time. Seems I was wrong on those assumptions.
It absolutely makes sense. Since Aaron N got a tablet to work with over the summer, he has a lot more time to draw a strip because he’s not spending so much time filling in spaces manually (sorry if THAT doesn’t make sense…I don’t know the tech-nickel words for this stuff).
Love in war time. One should ask “What would I do?” You see the war is not over. Topsiders are convinced mutants hold the virus so if all destroyed problem solved. The problem is it is a virus and it is all around them. Their super weapons were the cause and effect. She is now between both factions. Slighly mutant slightly Topsider. A unique gift and at the same time terrible curse. To the author. Sorry for misspelling your name earlier. I gave myself a personal talking to.
I doubt if the beans improved Wally’s olfactory appeal. Because beans can…uhh…you know…open doors AND windows…
As for whatever decision Aaron makes on Endtown’s (and his own) future, it needs to be what’s right for him. I love this strip and we’re all lucky he’s sharing his gifts with us, but they’re HIS gifts and he has to choose how best to use them.

Poor Blackie! What happened to Petey?? This is heart breaking! But she really enjoyed her 1st breath and probably really likes her new look.

Her first word, was her first meow? She is so cute in that 4th panel. So vulnerable.

Is that unevenness along the horizon in panel 1 just another bunch of ruins in the distance, or an approaching dust cloud?
