Blackieeee :(Wow, first I was surprised that she had a much longer tail originally, and now I’m surprised that it looks like she’s about to (and probably does) rip/bite/otherwise remove her own tail in a fit of madness. I agree with Arcaton.
Loosing the tail? Looks to me like she is winding up to strike. She sees that light at the end of the tunnel (Kuddos to yesterday’s panel. I would hate to be on the other side of that light. If you saw an opening why just damage yourself. It would be like “I can’t stand to see the torture. I’m going to gouge out my eyes!” Is chewing or ripping her own tail off productive to her problem? Wait and see. She is much stronger than that. She is becoming self aware of her mutant self and she may like it. Gotta to go now. Attending Active shooter training. We do live excersizes today. I love simu-ammo. High tech paintballing. Brings out the beast in you but no dies.

What does she get in the end with Marx. Salvation. Damnation. Forgiveness. Punishment. Comes back to the reality? Goes on to the next level? After all according to Marx she is only a thought held at the crossroads. He wants to know why? This current story is history. Her present is what I am concerned about. She is at her reckoning. Her fate to be decided. Think about that. What is her FINAL solution. Mr. Neathery you are a great story teller.
“On a side note, what does that probe do?She would not be so afraid of it if it were simply a prod.Electric? Poisoned?”Flask mentioned that everything the Topsiders could do to her, they did do. So the probe probably does whatever you want to imagine it does.
The probe makes me think of the floating spherical probe that Darth Vader used to interrogate Princess Leia in “Star Wars IV: A New Hope”. I imagine that its ends contain nasty electro-shock-thingys.
Because this story is on GoComics, which has rules restricting what can be portrayed, Neathery is leaving much of the detail to our imagination. This paradoxically, makes the whole thing more powerful.
Here is a thought. The machine above. A cutter as suggested. An obscene offer from them. Remove the most obvious mutant part. Remember she can wear a Topside suit and look on the outside just like them. (The rocket control room entry and attack). She just walked in. I say they still need her to complete the work. Just that tail bulging on her butt would be obvious to others. Without the tail in the suit she would appear like them. The suit would work both ways keep her mutant virus in and make her appear as them. Don’t forget her lover. His fate has not been told. She may be forced into a Devil’s bargain. Do their work or watch him die by disectioning. They are an evil lot but do recognize the value of her or she would have been killed without question by now. They would be bored wanting to torture some other prisoner. They have a purpose with her. This is not just random it seems to have a purpose. The machine is not attacking. It appears to be waiting.
Yesterday, it seemed that tail was a comfort, wrapped around her, protecting her.She has just realized it is a powerful symbol of her “downfall”, and since she is powerless to strike against her real tormenters, the tail goes.
I, for one, am starting to lean towards her rationalization. Any being that can do that to another sentient being, is no longer human.Even (especially) a whole base full of them.But no excuses for blasting our noble Wally!
“No that little machine was twitching above her with a scalpel. See it?”Yup. Looks more like a needle connected to a white medicine cartridge to me. Either way, she’s just stated that she’s the one that snapped. Odds are that whatever happens next is something that she instigates.
There are many things that could cause her to remove her tail. One thing in training is to never let your captors know how you feel as much as possible. Anyone who has owned a cat can tell a cat’s mood by the way its tail moves. I’m suggesting it as a possibility. I know if something doesn’t happen tomorrow, we won’t find out until Monday. :-)
