Sarah may have mutated, but her self-absorbed manner made it through. She’s been a pain since the day Wally and Holly found her playing cards with Jim. davidf42 is right…she fits this newfound group of lizards perfectly.
One is assuming Sarah is siding with the Lizards……question is….IS she?She could have referring to them doing this to Wally. After all she comes from very advanced background and these Lizards are all Medieval with their garb, swords, attitude and position of servitude. Even if Sarah joined this band she would never settle at being GIVEN orders by such a backwards bunch.Don’t be so hasty to jump to conclusions just yet.Wally is okay. The make shift straitjacket will keep him from harming himself (snicker). Its Holly one should concern themselves with. Will she be separated from him?? She would have a lot of issues with that. She could flashback to her and Lyn when they got taken.
No matter what happens, one thing is for certain……Phil has to deal with the shame of getting his tail handed back to him by a cat half his size, and needing a small army of lizards his size to come save him.Let’s see how tough he is after that…
An interesting thing I noticed — if you zoom in, is that an expression of actual concern on Jim’s face in Panel 2? Or is it maybe surprise? He doesn’t seem to be sitting next to Sarah in Panel 4, so maybe he got up to help or follow, but then again maybe he’s just not showing up there because he’s short. :)
I love it when people point out things that I might have missed. I think, so far as I can tell, EVERY detail is very important to the story Aaron is telling. Some more than others, but there is a reason for every little detail. Which is why I love his work!
Sarah is a sociopath. She Only care about herself. If she saw a pair of poor lizards, scorned by their fellow lizards, or maybe in Phil’s case, possibly with injuries that will at least cause him a demotion or fired, or because he was put in HIS place by a small cat She would not care, would not try to defend her fellow reptile, she would probably not even notice if he was. IMO.
It would seem the lizards in today’s strip are all armed with swords or long knives…suggestive that the society might solve personal disputes with duels…
I’m also starting to wonder about the so called war. It could be that there’s no war, that this is just the excuse the lizards on top are using but I doubt it. I also doubt they are fighting Topsiders. Nobody has commented on Sarah’s clothing, if they were fighting Topsiders, Jim and Sarah (or at least Sarah) would be asked all sort of tactical questions. My guess is that Lizardtown is fighting somebody on the other side of the barrier. Remember that Jim suggested that there was something beyond the great wastes and that it was good enough for the Topsiders to be fighting for it. That suggests that there is someone out there who is tough enough to hold off the lords of the topside. That is something I haven’t seen since I’ve started reading this strip. Maybe its a group of mutants with advanced telekinetic abilities who can mentally teleport themselves from place to place, maybe there is a civilization which is technically advanced enough to hold off the topsider onslaught. Maybe there is an extraterrestrial robot civilization that has taken a green portion of the world and made it a haven where mutants don’t have to worry about the biosuit brigade. Whoever or whatever it is, I’m guessing that they are who the Lizards are at “war” with, and I imagine they may make their appearance before too long.

As Jenner mentioned before, the internal conflict within the group is just forming. Jim is one of the non-reptiles, and he can feel that he’s in the same precarious position as Wally and Holly. Sarah always felt privileged as a Topsider, and here in this colony she knows that she’ll fit in just as she did as a TSer. Jim has a reason to feel concern for Wally’s current plight, because what happens to Wally can as easily happen to him, too. Sarah? Not so much. Now, we get to see just how everlasting Jim and Sarah’s love for each other is.
I can imagine that Sarah is still going through a lot of shock from her transformation, so she’s pretty desperate to find a place to fit in….and now she has, for better or for worse.

So… does this place make Lizard People feel superior or something? Man… that’s cold blooded.

Maybe Jim will be the worm that turns and put Sarah in her place.

There’s a woman lizard standing behind Sarah.

Sarah obviously isn’t married. She’s not even engaged.

It appears the cook didn’t fare as well as Wally. While Wally is bound and raging, the cook is totally out.
