It was my concern yesterday that these creatures did not lose their bad human habits, but have added to them, the bad habits of the animals they have become.
One thing that makes this not a lifeboat is that there’s no possibility of rescue. Nobody can save them but themselves. They’re shipwrecked on an island, not a boat.#(They can just hope there’s not a Gilligan among them.)
There does seem to be a shortage of females, or at least visible to us females. There was a modestly attired female in the dining hall, and possibly one at the trial or hearing or whatever, in the gladiatorium. Females may be in short supply, or they may be under wraps, OR they might be all together in the parturition area, squeezing out and incubating eggs, trying to breed perfect specimens. Some of The Greek societies tried to selective breeding for ideal warriors three thousand(3000), or at least twenty three hundred(2300) years ago, so the idea of an human ideal was certainly nothing new last century. Just a way for grownups to claim privilege, without saying “nyah, nyah, nyah” whilst taking inferiors’ stuff and substance. This place seems to have a medieval quality that may cover their master species plans. There still could be hollow-earth reptilians hiding amongst the mutants. Please Vote. Apologies for tardiness, but people following the fora over at Doc Rat can probably tell I’ve been having some medical issues. I’ll be okay, and ready to play another round of BEAT THE REAPER in about 21.5 hours, 8 AM CDT, 10July2014. I usually try to post early, but sometimes miss. If I haven’t posted the links, they can usually be found one page one of a previous day’s post.
yeah, that’s why the 13 colonies that united to fight British Opression in the late 1700’s later tore themselves apart with infighting less than a decade later…wait…
The most questionable thing Piotr has said is that the Topsiders would inevitably fold. This seemed very reasonable when I first started reading “Endtown” and assumed that the TS were just another scavenger society that depended on biosuits. They might have gained some very nice toys from Apex, like the Personal Transporters and Zero guns, but they were dependent on biosuits for their genetic purity and when those suits wear out, they’d have to choose between mutation and death. Then I saw a few things that convinced me that the Topsiders have far more resources than I had imagined. In the beginning of the “Countdown” story arc, Flask suggested that the TS spent years scavenging the parts to build their rocket and that destroying it would set them back several years allowing Endtown the time it needed to be self sufficient. She was shocked when that underground silo opened and an advanced design rocket was launched. This suggested that the Topsiders might not be depending on old tech but could design and build advanced technology. It also suggested that even high ranking Topsiders may not know the society’s full capabilities.Does anything scream access to massive resources like a swarm of enormous unmanned drones being sent out to neutralize a few mutants? Wally had never seen anything like this which suggests that they were launched after his misadventures during “Countdown”. The willingness to build so many huge drones when a smaller craft could be used more efficiently suggests that the Topside society doesn’t have any materials shortages. I’m beginning to wonder if they have mining and materials processing operations. Its possible that they have a globe spanning operation. As far as weaknesses, the only thing I see is the reliance on biosuits which limit human contact. Flask has suggested that over time, the lack of human contact has lead to a few suicides. It has been suggested that life in a ziploc bag may have lead to some of the crazier violent behavior that TS are given to. Still, it would seem that, from the point of an armed conflict, the TS have the wining hand. Is there something I’m not seeing?
Oh, silly me! I forgot! This is a strip covering both topics – ideological purity and germophobia!.Ideological purity – the wars they have fought and the colonies they have built.Germophobia – the mutant virus that is supposed to have launched this entire dystopia!
I don’t understand why she is so hostile to anything he says. I think if he told her she was pretty, she would hit him.I suppose with a name like Battle she would become hostile if not worse.
Is JusSaying really female? I looked at the comment and saw “Visible to us” as being in italics but “females” being not italicized. That suggested to me that JusSaying meant that there were few reptilian females visible to “us” the readers. Of course that DOESN’T mean that JusSaying couldn’t be a female, half of the world’s population are, after all.
I assume you’re asking about the lack of a new strip today. Aaron Neathery is still struggling with his chronic infections so while he was able to resume drawing his strip, he can only create 3 strips a week as opposed to the 5 strips a week we are used to. Its kind of sad, but I’m just happy to be getting back to our story.

So that’s the offer. A single seat in a lifeboat.

Could be worse. Could be like Endtown, which sets fire to the lifeboats before scuttling the ship.

You can make a mutant out of a human, but you can’t take the human out of the mutant.

Think she would rather tear it down with them all in it, than accept that being reality.

Note, it’s a seat for JUST her, and ONLY her…which says oodles about what’s REALLY going on here.
Like I said before, this guy’s argument isn’t holding much water. Nor do I see his colony being really as “united” as he claims.
