HOLD ALL CALLS, PLEASE! We have a winner in the Name That Lizard Colony Contest! Mr. Jim Lee! The winning colony name shall remain a secret, however, until late May when it will finally be revealed in the strip. Thanks to everyone for their creative contest entries. I now have enough names to name lizard colonies.. FOREVER!

I guess I just haven’t seen the rope. It may be that Mirbee is sitting on the rope, because with it around her neck… I dunno, I guess we’ll find out later. Anyway, it’s a new month at TopWebComics! Vote ENDTOWN

I am dismayed how many people don’t know that heat rises.

I’m guessing that Irving is flying out of the chute so that Chik will have both his hands free for climbing.

Also, Chic covered Irving with a cloth to keep the smoke away so Irving couldn’t fly and had to be carried. Now the cloth is off and Chic lost his grip, Irving is being sucked past Holly (at least that what panel 4 looks like to me).

I hope Holly can grab him with her tail. Rodent tales are not prehensil but can wrap around things. Holliy’s tail seems more capable that in our world. I’m relieved about Kirbee grabbing the hole edge!If Irving gets dead it will be a terrible blow to Chic, like a kid’s dog dying. I can’t remember if I saw Irving in those green area pictures.

Irving’s eyes look paniced to me. His pupils are bigger.

Irving’s either going to help, or die.

Its very difficult to understand what is going on, did Irving fall?

I’m not certain about the perspective in the final panel. It could be that we’re looking almost sideways at Chic and that Irving has been blown out of Chic’s reach but is level with Chic. The question would be whether Irving is strong enough to fly up against the downdraft or will be sucked down past Holly.The other possibility is that we’re looking up at Chic and Irving has been blown down past him. Either way I would be surprised if Irving is able to fly up past Chic into the hole. Our favorite mouse waitress may be Irving’s only hope.

Back a few weeks ago, there was some question as to what could be burning, given that most of the walls we’d seen appeared to made of rock or brick. But, we’re really not sure how much farther underground Holly and Chic went by falling down the laundry shaft. It kind of looks like 15-12 feet, and we have NO idea what’s down there. Maybe Jim set fire to a coal seam, or maybe an entire warehouse of old Shakespeare theater sets.

Next, the laundry room combusts, there’s a fiery explosion that blows our heroes out through the chute and singed to safety. And Chic is sitting there, taking bites out of a small piece of crunchy meat and saying: “mff, tastes a bit like chicken.”

this is a comic…all belief is suspended in comic land!
