Wally: “Our food and water supplies are limited, we’re leaving footprints that the TSer scanners could detect, and we’re exposed to the elements if we run into bad weather. If anyone wants to take a vote, raise their right hand.”Chic: “I count 4 hands.”
It is obvious that she doesn t count Kirbee. Because she is – as a lizzard – responsible for the whole history of the last few days. And – as I already said – 2 girls for one guy…..this may cause problems. (mare snappy :)
theoretically they can find the ocean, go out to sea. I mean, even if the radiation turned everything into dust (which is why the inventor SPECIFICALLY said to make directional weapons with it and not bombs but hey, listening to him is only the smart and sensible thing to do) it only has a range of so many miles, so the vast uninhabited oceans must have some area that’s not affected (in fact sea plants like kelp and algae might be what’s keeping the atmosphere full of oxygen) and there could be island paradises not affected by the war at all…of course since the topsiders have satellite surveillance now they’ve probably found them already…
I thought I understood the dialogue until I started reading the comments.Clive is dead, brain dead, offline for too long and no way to hook him up again. Then again…
Wally knows the problem.Clive is a liability. Right now he is dead weight. One of the rules of survival is take only what you need to survive and leave unnecessary weight behind.Clive is a plastic brain…..so all he is weight.Wally also knows what Holly is doing is not going to help her mentally. Its not her baby. She needs to learn to let go of useless hope. Keep hope that keeps you alive but let go of hope for Clive. Clive was gone the minute he died. All that remains is this brain that only works on a PT.I got a feeling we are going for a flashback soon…..some more Holly background. She will not take this well but I believe now Wally knows how to care for someone else rather than feeling sorry for himself.Kirbee lesson number one.
I think Holly’s just hyper-focused on the people she cares about, and doesn’t tend to notice other people.
So she loves Wally, she feels responsible for Chic and Clive… Kirbee… she just thinks of her as that ditzy lizard who she had to browbeat into helping her. The idea that Wally might not think that same way is probably startling to her, as is the idea that Kirbee is now part of their group, and not just somebody who happened to be briefly helpful.
I still take Holly’s “The four of us?” and “Oh.. you mean Clive..” as being more of a snub of Kirbee than anything else. It kind of bugs me because Holly is usually one of the most caring people in the story. The fact that she bothered helping Linda (who tried to turn her into a Clive) is proof of that. Maybe this is a sign that whatever has been eating her since the milk trial has gotten worse. Either that or she saw the kiss and feels threatened by having a second female in the group.

Wally, Holly, Chick, Kirbee, Irving and Clive. I get 6.

I can’t believe Holly would suggest leaving Kirbee behind, alone in the Great Waste. Let’s be charitable and say her math skills are limited.

This could mean, not counting Clive.

Aaron’s preview of the Green showed Wally, Holly, and Chic. I’m assuming the fourth will be Irving. We know who but not why.

Only 15 hours to go to see what Aaron’s thinking. I’m wiling to bet he’ll confound us, as he usually does.

My guess is that Kirbee is dead and Wally is just hallucinating her.
