That reminds me of a quote from the “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” series.“There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.”Essentially, you have to throw yourself at the ground without thinking of hitting the ground hard and of how hard it is going to hurt when you hit the ground. Since these are extremely hard things to ignore, most people never manage to achieve flight without mechanical assistance. In this case, I assume that Wally is able to call on the dittos for help.
I presume Wally saw that Holly is on a ledge on the other side of the street and worked out she must have floated in the same way he did. And he’s no stranger to this. Remember when Wally, Holly, Flask and Petey first boarded the Opabinia Queen? Aaron Marx did a very similar thing – he jumped overboard and floated back up to the deck. He did that to try out or perhaps to demonstrate the anti-gravity effect. It was presumably a safety feature for anyone who may fall overboard. Similar safety feature here, Wally must have surmised. Holly fell, but then she floated. It’s still very much a leap of faith, notwithstanding.
I wonder what Apex Industries announces on the big ticker. It probably can’t be good…although it might seem to be. Kind of like “Gather at Pep Stadium for free screening” in Sparkplug’s time.
I was referring to the free “health screenings” set up by Apex in Pep Cola park. Al and Gustine both seemed very familiar with it, judging from Gustine’s thoughts here. And Sparkplug is warned about them here.
She was an acrobat’s daughter; she swung by her teeth from a noose. Till one matinee, the bridge-work gave way and she flew through the air like a goose! (Daffy Duck 1946)
I realize I mis-read what was happening the last time. I had thought they were walking on the walls with the gravity shift. Didn’t realize they really jumped. Waiting for today’s strip to arrive.

Wally’s eyes are closed, all their eyes are closed. Is Wally giving in to the dittos guidance system?

They must have been higher than the seventh floor. I’ve heard that cats survive falls better when it’s from higher than the seventh floor.

Wally figured there was only one reason they were there, and one way they would be saved.Marx.

To paraphrase Chauncy and Edgar from Rocky and Bullwinkle:
Edgar: Well Chauncy, there’s something you don’t see every day.
Chauncy: What’s that Edgar?
Edgar: A cat hugging a lizard with a bird as a cape flying up from railroad tracks.
Chauncy: Nope.

Isn’t it amazing: skyscrapers, artificial gravity, flying cars and steam trains.

I guess Wally could still feel the Dittos and knew they would save them if he jumped.
