So, are all these furries dead, and this is some sort of Purgatory, where they will be sorted out, for Paradise or Inferno, or maybe held over until they purge their consciences? Probably not, but this weekend I started to think of Dante’s Divine Comedy. Marx as Virgil? Or to get really meta, maybe we are all dead, and this strip is how we make peace with dealing with our life Karma? Or is it just me? Sorry, it has been a rough few months for me, healthwise. Two old health problems I thought I had beaten have returned, and they brought a couple of friends. On the plus side, I may be setting a local record for White Blood Count.
I got the impression that the mass exterminations were in part an attempt to head off “external measures” (the other half was part of the effort to get rid of undesireable sections of the population- my suspicion is that the virus itself was a failed attempt to weed out the unworthy)
Our author explained there are many Aaron Marx’s across the layers of realities…..this is the Marx existing in this reality.Onwards to the underground……..Endtown origins.
Had some vague memory of seeing a mutant fox man somewhere in the strip before, but have failed to locate it. Closest I could come was The Editor at the Endtown Examiner—-this isn’t him.But take a close look under this guy’s jacket…there’s a right breast pocket, and it seems to be full of pens. Reporter? Engineer?(Though, strictly speaking, single-pocket shirts generally have the pocket on the left side.)
Darwin. According to our author there are Marx all over the realities. Remember the one attacking the Red….that was Erin Marx. They are through out the realities. This is the Marx for this reality at this time which is in the past of Holly’s memories. Similar to the Doctor as there is more than one.The story will unfold as we go….this is another Marx. This may lead to why Prof Mallard seemed unfazed when he met Marx back with Linda in Endtown. Mallard knows of the reality bits so he may know of Marx.
I looked up the Marx brothers, and the Mama Marx sure did have lots of boys. One died in infancy but that left at least 5 brothers. I don’t remember if they has a sister.
I could be wrong (cause I’m wrong more often than I’m right about this stuff) but I don’t think we are in a different reality. Remember, this is all a ditto flashback just like Sparky’s and Wally’s except this time the dittos can manifest solid objects. Endtown has rules and Aaron sticks to them. The (supposed) purpose of this entire side trip was to explain to Wally the backstory Holly couldn’t or wouldn’t tell him so the others still must be watching this somehow. I once thought that, since the last time we saw Wally and the others was at the bathtub, that maybe the real flesh and blood Holly stepped in at that point and is now somehow reliving her memories, but that would run counter to what we saw previously with Sparky and Wally. To say that it’s confusing is a monumental understatement, but since it is very likely that SOMEONE is running this show (given the glares Wally got from the Lyn character) who’s to say whoever it is isn’t inserting himself into the production again; and since Marx has appeared already a couple of times in this arc (Wally’s dream sequence) he’s as likely a candidate as anyone. Whoa, my head hurts just writing this! Aaron, we need something solid to grab on to! ;-)

I’m really thinking Marx is a good guess here, for all those who guessed it earlier. Also, totally spot on observation from that fox!--Unfortunately

He’s a doctor. Instead of thinking of himself, he’s thinking of the greater good.

Ooo! Early update today! As for the fox, he’s certainly got a point.

Definitely has Marxist tendencies… Only time (and Aaron) will tell. ;-)

Boy, the strip is up early this morning. I’m inclined to go along with the Aaron Marx theory—-pending further details, of course.

Meanwhile, remember this is a vision of Holly’s backstory. Wally and Chick and Lizard Girl (whatever her name is) are somewhere watching this.

Say “goodbye” to all… this. And “hello” to oblivion.

And remember when Lyn (before he mutated) would at times glare directly at the gang? What was that about?

He has no pants! Looks like someone’s had an indecent exposure.

It looks a lot as the fox from Walt Disney’s Pinocchio!

I think he looks a bit like Wally. Holly’s feet are still adorable.

Bowtie is a sign that he is Marx.
BeniHanna6 Premium Member over 8 years ago
@ Edwin Franco, that’s quite a leap from wearing a Bow tie to being Marx. We will see eventually though, I’m sure.

“A world of infinite pathways” is an indicator he’s a Marx. That’s something a Marx would say.

The Marxes travel between universes, so there could be more than one in a universe.

When has A. Marx ever worn a conservative bowtie? Doesn’t Marx wear a ridiculously elaborate scarf or something tied around his neck?
