So… Jacob Jackrabbit is the mayor of Endtown and a reporter for Endtown’s paper. As the mayor, he is in a position of power over Philo Foxworthy, while as a reporter he is employed by him. Foxworthy is being handed propoganda manufactured by a shadowy cabal, to be published in order to subtly turn the community against Mayor Jackrabbit, thus preparing the ground for a coup d’etat. Foxworthy shares the cabal’s view in wanting Jackrabbit out. Jackrabbit and his office allies Eve and ‘beaver-guy’ want Foxworthy out. They’re putting together the jigsaw that points to a conspiracy to destroy him. I’m sure Jackrabbit has the resources as mayor to have Foxworthy removed, but he’s playing the dangerous game of following the thread deeper into the maze to find out who else has to be liquidated. Scary stuff. I don’t know which side to support.
I don t think that Jacob is still a reporter. Mayor is a fulltime job for him. He just use the connections he still have to the paper and Eve works for him as his eye.
Cooper’s vendetta against Jacob has gone along well, but there are going to be several snags along the way, and Foxworthy’s being exposed as Cooper’s tool doesn’t bode well.
They are using coffee and tobacco. They have plenty to eat besides beans. That’s the whole point. Someone is forging documents and creating a narrative that Endtown is Beantown, when they actually have a good variety of food and drink and smokes that won’t run out for a long, long time. If anyone questions where the coffee and tobacco comes from, the answer is the black market. People are probably paying high prices for what they think is nearly extinct contraband. This may be a profiteering racket, or an adaptation of 1984’s rationing and propaganda, or both.
If this is a combination of 1984 and Animal Farm, then all’s Orwell, that End’s Orwell.
Definitely a secret group within the society that likes to maintain their control over all the food. They could easily have a riot and murders of those involved in this scheme.

I am still curious what they are using for coffee and tobacco, especially since so much is made about how they have nothing to eat but beans.

Jacob (“J”) Jackrabbit says the documents are forgeries. Are they?
