Seems that thought has occurred to many workers as well.. Surprisingly we can make do with less and spend more time on personal pleasures. It’s going to take some time before we are persuaded to work 8~12..14 hours a day so we can keep up with the Joneses
Rich people who have so much money they only use it to “keep score” will still complain about taxes. How many homes do you need for different seasons? How many suborbital holidays? Taxes create jobs, too.
That’s not how it works. Socially conscious would make enough to keep the workers employed & keep serving the customers, not a cushy retirement, just sell for a livable pension.
I have known very few small business that really make enough for the owners to retire. Most start with a lot of money to end up with a little money. Happened with the bar I used to own.
As super-villain Ross Webster (Robert Vaughn) told Gus Gorman (Richard Pryor) in “Superman III”, “There’s no fun in being rich unless everyone else is poor.”
Uhhh….no. Socially conscious small businesses tend to struggle quite a bit and fail unless they are in a niche that dovetails well with the philosophy.
