Imagine that you are in a waiter in a restaurant. Your customer is a casting director looking for someone to play a waiter that’s deserving of the greatest tip ever.
I hung out with an actress and her actress/waitress friends for an afternoon at retro-50s diner in North Hollywood. They talked about their acting classes and upcoming auditions (where most of the world’s acting is actually done).
On a break, one of them sat down with us and complained downheartedly for a while about the job. After a couple of minutes, I looked her straight in the eye and said, “Use it.”
She thought for a second, nodded, then smiled before standing up and going back to work.
