Reminds me of an episode of ‘Designing Women’ when Julia told Anthony to leave a tattered old trash can out for the garbage men to take. Finally decided to write a big sign saying “This is garbage. Please take.” They took the sign and left the old garbage can.
A couple of years ago the city provided each house with a container that the TRUCK would pick up automatically. I asked how to dispose of unacceptable container in use, and was told to put it in the new one. It fit and was dumped like the garbage it had become.

If it’s plastic, cut it into smaller pieces or tape a sign to it. “Basura”

I put one out with a sign “please remove.” After a conference with the driver they decided to put it on the truck.

If its metal, sell it to a scrap metal place
