Hush up kid. Just be grateful you don’t have to roll it up and down like we used to.

They’re also confused about ‘hanging up the phone’.

How about “crank up the car?” Cars used to literally need to have a crank to start the car.

My daughter (38) has a weird mix of knowledge. She can talk about “technology” from the past, but has gaps, like how to read an analog clock. She also has trouble with quarter to, half past – bur some of that is related to her autism. “How can 15 and 25 both mean quarter?” Her brain just can’t handle it. But when you start talking about what a machine or a tool is from before they were motorized, she can tell you what it is and how it was used and what replaced it. She keeps people guessing as to how old she REALLY is. She often quips that you should see the portrait she keeps in the attic.

Unless the motor goes out in the mechanism and you have to take the door apart like I did with my Son’s Nitro and had to roll it up by hand. All while hoping the wires didn’t pop off the track.

The wonder of “key-less” ignition, instead of getting an extra key made for a couple of bucks, you have $200 fobs.

I used to have a button hook. Anyone else know what those were for? I wish I still had it – it’s probably valuable now.
