I’m old, but I know what ‘spam’ is on the computer. I just wondered why unwanted email was called ‘spam’, so I ‘googled’ it and found out. A comedy group called ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus’ had Viking characters chantng ‘spam, spam’ in a sketch, and drowning out other conversations. Then the term became associated with annoying email in 1993. Strange, huh?

WAS inexpensive. I like fried, not bad that way.

SPAM = Squirrel Possum And Mouse.

My dad, a WW II vet, refused to have spam in the house. He had enough of it in the army.

It’s not inexpensive anymore, and it’s not that great.

I’ve had to accept the fact that some people think Spam is delicious, but there’s no denying it’s a claim that defies credibility.

I like it and have since I was a child. I still have Spam sandwiches on occasion or make Spam, eggs, and mushrooms for breakfast or dinner. I think enjoyment of certain foods depends on if you grew up eating it or not.

That’s how Spam got such a bad rap. They should call it something else like Scam.

For various reasons, my mother never bought Spam (top of the list is that we’re Jewish, and although she didn’t keep a kosher home, she was raised in one). I like ham enough to eat it occasionally, and a few years ago (I’m 65 now) I decided to give Spam a try and see what I’ve been missing. Apparently, not a thing. To me, Spam is just boring ham.
