Man in green: My idea, 'Fun Day' has been outvoted, but I still say the word 'independence' is far too long. They'll just end up calling it 'the fourth'.
We have the Fourth of July, and our neighbors to the south have the Fifth of May, but other holidays go by their real names. Maybe Independence Day is too long.
But, they have the fourth everywhere, that’s just a date. It is for the celebration of the signing of our Declaration of INDEPENDENCE. That’s why it used to to called Independence Day, to honor that fact. The fourth is just a day.
Yes. So many are giving up their liberty for security. We have neither, just as Franklin predicted. (I’m sure his spinning alone could power a whole city.)

“The United States of America” is far too long. They’ll just end up calling it America. Or USA. Or US.

was this the same meeting where the ‘America!’ flag design was decided against?
