Whenever possible, I try to buy products that aren’t tested on animals. Most of the time, it isn’t necessary, and it seems like they could find enough humans willing to do this for a few bucks. Animals have no choice, and they often suffer. “Fun” fact. China requires any cosmetics sold in China, to have been tested on animals.
Tony Carrillo draws cute mice. Reminds me of that brilliant strip he did years ago of the lab mice acting out scenes from Shakespeare plays as the side effect of the drug that was being tested on them.
If you’re going to make a gag out of animal testing, at least have the conscience to show the animals as they truly look: stressed, eyes red with a runny discharge from chemicals applied, strapped down so they can’t move, claw marks on faces where the animals attempted to stop the burning sensation by gouging their own eyes out, and puddles of vomit from when they were force-fed shampoo to “see if it’s toxic”. Berke Breathed had the guts to portray all of that in his Bloom County strip decades ago to highlight the animal cruelty perpetrated in the name of science by Mary Kay cosmetics.
Actually, shame on you for even making such a flippant strip.
Draw the Yulin dog meat festival in China next. Should be hilarious! /s
