I would suggest that (almost) nobody wants to ride the bus. For a relatively small portion of the population, the bus is the least bad option. In high-density population areas, that portion amounts to lots of folks. I drive a school bus, it’s the same thing there. If the kids can get a (car) ride that trip, they don’t take the bus that time.
