My brother (4 years older) used to hit me on the shoulder, quite hard, whenever I passed by. When I was about 14 I received a weightlifting outfit and dedicated my spare time to the exercise. It took more than a year, but I built up my strength. Then, one day my brother took a swat at me and I laid into him, taking him to the ground and pinning his shoulders to the floor with my knees. I let him up and he had the audacity to praise himself for “making a man” out of me. I will admit that I never feared any local bullies ever again … so maybe he was right.
Sibling rivalry. The only time my brother and I fought I gave him a beating and he did not talk to me for the next two years, I regretted letting my anger get the better of me and it took our mom to get us back to speaking terms. She’s passed away a few years now and it is just my brother and I left since we lost our dad when we were very young and we had no other siblings. The holidays are coming and we love all that bonding time together, there will be a small family get together with cousins from overseas at his home just before Christmas so I’m looking forward to that.
