My mother had me practice my violin when I was a little kid. She bribed me with toys. She had me do it even when I didn’t want to. She ignored my weird excuses like, ‘Mommy practicing makes my knee itch’. Few years later I’m in the first violins of the local Youth Orchestra playing Sibelius and Mozart. I know instruments aren’t for everyone. But it sometimes pays to nag your kid to practice. All I’m saying. I appreciate what my mother did a hundred percent

I got a bass guitar for my 9th birthday in 2010. I didn’t start lessons until the summer of 2023, but picked it up fast. I wish I had started earlier.
