This will have to be one of those weeks where you just do your best and let the rest go. It’s not much more to feed an extra kid, unless they’re picky. That’s the only part I don’t like is all my kids’ picky friends. (Mine eat almost anything.)

When I was growing up, if I went over to a friend’s place for dinner, lunch, or whatever, I ate what was put in front of me, no questions asked… and I finished it too, whether I liked it or not… It’s how I was brought up. Kids today get everything on a silver platter by their parents… If they don’t like a certain dish, then one is made for them specially because of this and because of that… As far as I’m concerned, you eat what’s put in front of you, you shut up, and finish it…

It may seem a little harsh in today’s world, but c’mon on… give me a break!

Amen Tanya, the little snowflakes that are growing up today have no clue how harsh the world can be. It use to be a parents job to prepare a kid for the world, now the world best be prepared for these precious snowflakes.

@Tanya – I agree and am trying to raise my kids the same. This is the most recent story: a picky child came over for a day’s visit, so I asked the parents what she would eat for lunch. They said she eats turkey almost every day, so I bought some turkey thinking we would eat it too. At lunchtime, she came to me and asked what was for lunch. I said turkey sandwiches. She looked at me like I was crazy and said “I don’t eat turkey!!”. So I ended up making PB&J. And then I gave them cucumbers and cherry tomatoes because I always give my kids veggies with their sandwiches. She looks at me and says “I don’t like the green stuff or the red stuff.” Since her parents already said that she eats cucumbers on salad, I left the “green stuff” on, which she ended up eating most of. Her sister is coming to visit today. Thank goodness not for lunch.

Meanwhile, my oldest loves tuna and salmon sandwiches and occasionally asks for sardine sandwiches (my husband’s influence). They will eat most anything and have learned that even if they don’t like it, they need to eat some of it and not complain.

Please remember folks, these are pen and ink drawings from Lynn’s head. They can’t get sick unless Lynn draws that into the story. This is a comic, nothing more, nothing less. Just enjoy it. OK

Well, if it IS “the pits” for mom, maybe next time she’ll keep her big yap shut and not be so quick to volunteer to baby-sit for a week while her horny friend runs off for that long to have sex with someone (even if it is Elly’s own brother!) unencumbered by the “baggage” that is her child!

    A WEEK?!

    WHAT A FREAKING TRAMP!

    TRAMP, TROLLUP, CHEAP, HUSSY!

Yes, I was yelling (good naturedly). I hate women who dump their kids off to go run around with men. God knows there are enough cop shows and TV shows about them.

She didn’t even give it any thought. It was like watching someone in a binge eating frenzy. Her eyes should have been drawn as black and white hypnotist swirls.

Everyone picks on Connie for dumping her child and I agree with you but what about Lawrence’s father? He’s never been part of his life. Connie’s a single mom who has to do everything herself. That guy doesn’t even pay child support!

I know I’ve come down pretty hard on Connie for dumping her son off on anyone that will take him so that she can go have a 7-day sex romp with Phil in Montreal but … in her defense where her child’s father is concerned, she probably can’t even FIND the guy to get child support from him! She knew where he WAS when she left to go home to have her baby but his letters to her became fewer and fewer until the last one she sent him came back “Address Unknown”. That low-down dirty dog knows he has a child and I’m pretty sure he knows how to find them! The fact that he doesn’t says more about him than anything else. What good does it do to be this supposedly great, selfless doctor volunteering your services in some third-world country helping out the less fortunate if you just turn around and ignore all parental responsibility to a child that you fathered?

Well, as my parents used to tell me when I was a teenager: “No one is going to buy the cow if they can get the milk for free!”

As I’ve said before: no, I don’t believe Connie should live the life of a nun until her son grows up and moves away. Everyone needs love and the boy does need a positive male role model influence in his life. I just don’t think she should be dumping her kid off on anyone that will take him so that she can run after a man that (hopefully!) has told her he only wants them to be “just friends”. If it’s meant to be, it’ll be. Forcing it to try and happen if both parties don’t agree that dating each other is a good idea can’t possibly have anything good come from it — and the one person that will suffer the most will be Lawrence.

Macush… She’s a a cheap tramp, and that’s why she gets what she’s gotten from men.

I don’t remember the kid’s father, but somebody once told us that story on here, and I can’t remember where his father went off to, but he’s a deadbeat creep too. Poor kid. Maybe that’s why he grew up so confused.

Nobody’s addressing the father, because he has nothing to do with what Connie is doing now. Continuing to, let’s say, never learn her lesson. Paying for hotel rooms to follow some jerk around. Dumping her kid to go give some guy who doesn’t think twice about her, free sex for a week.
