I remember working the midnight shift, thinking that my working hours were making me too impatient with my children, and wasn’t home for fifteen minutes before I was yelling something like: “Why did you put the cat in the toilet?”
My kids are almost the same age as these and the fighting is driving me insane. I can spend the day with each one individually and never ever lose my temper. But put them together and they are crazy-making.
Did anyone mention, Michael was shouting at Ellie first? She didn’t immediately start shouting at him until he continued arguing.
Sure, that doesn’t justify her shouting back at him, but
many adults revert to childish behavior when they are shouted at.
I’ll bet most of us who are parents have been there.
I certainly would not call her outburst, verbal abuse.
But for some reason, there seems to be a social taboo against women showing their anger.
It is interesting that Ellie’s shouting seemed to work. Michael lowered his voice.
scuttlebutt dont loose sight of something, this is a comic strip. Why would you attact the author like that? You must be so miserable yourself is the only answer I can come up with.

And, to top it all off…………….when our kids got to be adults, it turns out the “younger” sibling egged on the “older” one to result in the squabbles!!!!
Go figure!

Michael and Elizabeth getting verbally abused by Elly. What a shame.

My mom never yelled. She was THE genesis of the hairy eyeball. She also was into time outs and grounding.
I remember one grounding vividly. She, like Elly, said “You’re driving me crazy!”
I said “Short drive.”
No soccer practice for a week. I learnt good.

Most people think they’re professionals before they have kids.

Yelling takes longer, but it’s kinder than a 2x4 up side the head.

I agree with Night Gaunt about Scuttlebutt.

I think you had the right idea Gretchensmom. :)
