My oldest daughter loved daycare and all her little friends. She cried when she “graduated”.

The mind of a small child sees no contradiction in the statement “I’m angry because you abandoned me to this strange place where I spent the day having more fun than I’ve ever had before.”

When I taught preschool, we had one boy who cried 6 hours straight for his mom on his 1st day. He got over it.

Yeah, I don’t think the “I messages” work on a toddler. Especially considering they don’t care about anyone but themself.

I’ll take a shrug over the endless silence or “No’s” that comes with an upset child. At least she’s paying attention. By bedtime, all will be well.

I never went to daycare. My mom was a teacher’s aide at an elementary school. Once or twice a week I would go to work with her (armed with a bag full of things to keep me occupied) or else I’d stay at home with my dad (if it was his day off) or I’d go to my baby-sitter.

I’m just glad and thankful I was a stay-at-home Mom. We took our kids to church when they were babies. We left them in the nursery. They’d cry some, but were given cookies so they got over it.

Has there ever been a child Lizzie’s age who didn’t love one thing today then hate the exact same thing tomorrow?!?
