The “go” in go-cart (or go-kart) implies a motor, which this didn’t have, Makes it more of a homemade wagon. Now strap on a 5 HP Briggs and Stratton and you might have something…that needs brakes, too!

Since Mikey didn’t build it, it’s time he learns to rebuild it.

They say a car that the child pays for last approximately 3 years longer.

Mikey, back in my day, we built our own! We had to walk to school uphill both ways, in the snow, barefoot.

Back in MAH day, we would have broken that go kart in HALF the time! Go to your room, young man, until you learn to use that go kart the way a go kart is meant to be used!

Yeah, and they don’t raise kids the way they used to also.

Acutally, Mike did build it. Check out a few days ago when John told him he would have to help build it, then the following day when Mike told his friends that he had built it.

My kids learned to drive with a used Mercury Zephyr – no major loss if it got totaled. They bought their own cars. First boy rebuilt one that was ready for junkyard – engine was shot. Rebuilt another engine to put into it. The three have never had a major accident. Some of their classmates that got new cars for graduation had them totalled in first year.

John needs to have Mike fetch the kart and fix it himself. John can coach but Mike will have to do the work. I did just that with my own kids.

Kids do tend to break things. I had three kids who managed to break their toys. I recall reading Thomas Edison’s bio. It told of when he was small, he broke his toys to see how they worked. So maybe this was Michael’s intentions.

Maybe John’s 175+ lb. body all scrunched up inside that kart that was built to only hold the weight of a 7-year-old kid weakened its frame so much that it really didn’t take much effort (either purposely or accidentally) to completely destroy it so quickly???!!!
