I never needed anyone to nag me to do my homework when I was a kid. No, I didn’t like doing homework but as a student, I knew it was my duty to do it — or fail school . . . and I knew that if I wanted to go anywhere in life, I certainly couldn’t let that happen!!!

I got a huge smile and will share this with my three sons. It validates my nagging. (Though of course I wouldn’t call it that!)

Lynn, I too, hope your mom has another chance. Thank you for your post.

I can’t remember who said it but it is true. He said when you educate a man you set him up for a good life, but when you educate a women you educate a family. Or something like that as I can’t remember it completely.

Most women realize that a white knight is usually not going to come riding up to their doorstep, they need to make some effort at it. Connie, however, has the opposite problem. She was so desperate to find a man she settled for a philander like Ted, and to a lesser extent, an undisciplined boor like Phil. Fortunately she was lucky to find an honorable man like Greg. I guess like many things in life, there is a balance.

INGSOC, in response to Trapper John, Winston Smith and Syme knew that Big Brother could not take care of them. They also realized that the Ministry of Plenty was publishing bogus statistics on the economy. Anyone seen what happened to those two?
