Better yet, write it down on a card and leave it for them in a special place. It’s good to see John rising to the challenge, quite often I think he’s a male chauvinist pig.
Slywlf, Night-Gaunt… very true! A compliment and/or a thank you goes a long way!route66paul, it doesn’t matter who earns the most money. Everyone should feel appreciated for what they do.
Always a good idea to tell someone you appreciate them and what they do, whether it is a spouse, a co-worker or a shop keeper. Everyone needs an “attaboy” now and then.
I NEVER let a day go by without telling my husband how much I love and appreciate him and everything he does for our family (and he does the same for me) because that’s exactly how we feel about each other . . . and if the unexpected, unthinkable were to ever happen, neither one of us would want those thoughts and feelings to be left forever unsaid to the other. As far as I’m concerned, that would be simply awful to have to live with!!!!! :-(
IMO, I don’t think anyone should ever have to live with anything less than being totally loved, respected and appreciated by the person they’re married to — it’s a very important part of the foundation that keeps a marriage solid and thriving in an all-too-easy-to-get-a-divorce-so-I-can-move-on-to-the-next-person world we’re living in today.
Oh! And one OTHER very good reason to show your spouse often how much you love and appreciate them? Because if you don’t, they’ll go out and find someone else who WILL . . . and would you really want that to happen?!?
Every morning the firstthing my husband and I tell each other was,“I love you,” and no matter how good or bad, the last thing we tell each other was, “I love you,” and the last thing I heard from my husband before he took his last breath and died in my arms was, ’I’ll love you always." so make sure your spouse know this because you don’t know how long you have each other.
I agree that Elly should tell her husband she loves & appreciates him but I don’t understand her line about him being “great about [her] job.” It is none of his business.

If she was the main bread winner in the family, he needs to just chill. If he was the bread winner, she should have been sorry.

Heck with the compliment – a “thank you” would be appreciated from time to time!
