My parents always went OUT for New Year’s, so we never had that issue. However, except for when we were very young, we were allowed to stay up ‘til midnight. Every year I had my radio with me, listening to the Year’s Top 100 songs. One year, when I was about 16, I had to babysit my younger brother, but my parents let my boyfriend come over to spend New Year’s with me. My mom even bought us a single-serve bottle of Andre’s Pink Champagne to share at midnight. (He stayed in our guest room…and no, there was no hanky-panky.)
